Single-person transport, as well as in small groups, is based today on road traffic. It is possible, however, that we will be more and more kilometers over the years. There are many projects that have such assumptions, and recently their list has been extended by another two.
Rolls-Royce and a flying cab
A flying cab is a concept that is based on VTOL type machines (that is, those that take off and land vertically) capable of transporting several (usually 4-5 people). Uber engineers (who want to have it) work on something like that) and “many problems of urban transport” . Now another player joined the competition, which no one needs to introduce – Rolls-Royce.
The British manufacturer presented a conceptual machine (or rather its three-dimensional renders) with folding wings (allowing to land even on a small surface), a cab for 5 people and six rotors and a hybrid drive (enabling the speed to reach 400 km / h). It will not be a super-biological solution, but it will be more effective, as announced by Rolls-Royce. It is also supposed to allow for a faster debut – at the beginning of the next decade.
Opener and a flying car
The flying car, in turn, is a term used to describe “personal flying machines”. They are used to transport one person who is both a pilot and a passenger. Something like that wants us. and yet another – a company financially supported by Google co-founder, Larry Page. The same man decided to help another company called Opener.
Opener recently presented its new prototype called BlackFly. This electric machine (with eight rotors on two wings) will accelerate to 100 km / h and can travel 40 km on a single charge. Even if these are not impressive numbers, you should not ignore this project, because its greatest asset is to be extremely simple control, so that everyone can deal with it. The authors announce an “attractive price”, but they do not reveal what is hidden under it.
