Manufacturers are preparing for the launch of the AMD B450 motherboards, which will prove themselves in the construction of cheaper processor-based configurations. Four such models have just appeared in the offer of the ASUS company.
What makes new motherboards stand out? In principle, they offer functionality similar to the B350 models, but allow to use the potential of the 2nd generation of Ryzen systems.
Prime B450M-A is the cheapest manufacturer’s offer. The mATX laminate has been able to fit the AM4 stand, four DDR4-3200 memory banks, as well as one PCI-Express 3.0 x16 and two PCI-Express 2.0 x1 connectors. Six SATA 6 Gbps sockets and one M.2 32 Gbps are allocated for the hard drives.
The Prime B450-PLUS model (ATX format) looks a bit better. Also we are dealing with the AM4 socket and four slots for DDR4-3200 memory. However, the manufacturer provided for one PCI-Express 3.0 x16 connector, one PCI-Express 2.0 x16 (electrically operating in x4 mode) and three PCI-Express 2.0 x1. 6x SATA 6 Gb / s and one M.2 32 Gb / s are available for disks.
There were also proposals for players – the ROG Strix B450-F Gaming model was mentioned, which was kept in a dark, effective color scheme. The manufacturer predicted the AM4 socket and four DDR4-3200 memory banks, but the extended power section also deserves attention. In addition, one PCIe 3.0 x16 connector, one PCIe 2.0 x16 (x4), three PCIe 2.0 x1 and one older PCI are available, and six SATA 6 Gbps sockets and two M.2 32 Gbps sockets for disks.
The manufacturer’s offer also includes a miniature model ROG Strix B450-I Gaming. On the mini-ITX laminate, there was room for the AM4 stand, two DDR4-3600 memory banks and the PCI-Express 3.0 x16 connector. In addition, four SATA 6 Gb / s and two M.2 32 Gbps sockets are provided. On the back we find, among others 8-channel SupremeFX S1220A audio codec connector and 802.11 AC wireless Wi-Fi network card.
