Fitbit today introduced Fitbit Versa, the successor to the Ionic. The look of the new fitness smartwatch is very reminiscent of the Apple Watch. The wearable will appear in April in Germany and cost 199.95 euros.
Fitbit is giving its new Versa smartwatch a good feature package. Among other things, there is again a heart rate monitor, a monitoring of the sleep phases, a music function and it is up to 50 meters deep water repellent. In conjunction with an Android smartphone, there is also the option of quick replies. In contrast to the Ionic Versa dispenses with a GPS module.
Rather rare in fitness gadgets is the period capture that allows women to monitor their menstrual cycle. The function should also be submitted later for the Ionic by update. Otherwise Fitbit offers the usual fitness tracker features that we already know. As a battery life Fitbit calls four days or more.
Basically, the new smartwatch of the Ionic in the functional range (except for the GPS) is very similar. Striking, however, is the new look, reminiscent of the Apple Watch. Not only the form factor is reminiscent of Apple’s smartwatch, even the color options black, gray and aluminum rose gold Fitbit thought. The new smartwatch can be pre-ordered at Fitbit for 199.95 euros. For almost 30 euros more, two special edition models are offered.
In addition to the Fitbit Versa, a new wearable for children had also premiered today. Fitbit Ace is suitable for children from the age of eight and records steps and sports activities as well as sleep phases. Furthermore, parents can create challenges for their children. Motivation is provided by medals displayed for sporting activities. The Fitbit Ace should be available from the second quarter of 2018 and cost in Germany probably € 99.95.
