Andrzej Sapkowski, the creator of the figure of Geralt of Rivia, or the popular The Witcher, admitted in an interview given to the Portuguese website that he is not taking part in the work on the new series created by Netflix.
A comprehensive interview with Andrzej Sapkowski appeared in the Portuguese JPN website. A well-known fantastical writer from Poland, responsible for creating the character of The Witcher, admitted that he did not take part in the work on the series about the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. The series is created at the request of Netflix.
“I do not take part in the work on the series. Books are books, games are games, and film adaptations are film adaptations.” That’s all I can say at the moment. I have signed a contract under which I am punished if I say something more. ” , said Sapkowski.
Last year, Sapkowski seemed pleased with the fact that a series devoted to the Witcher was being created. Either something has changed since then, or Sapkowski could not have a satisfying effect on production and let go, or actually can not let even the smallest pair out of his mouth.
Andrzej Sapkowski’s statement stands in contrast to the information that Polish Radio was provided by Tomasz Bagiński, one of the directors. He claimed that Sapkowski is taking part in the project. You can see the interview below.
The series will be produced by Platige Image together with global brands such as Netflix and Sean Daniel Company. The participation of the Netflix brand in the production of the series means that we will be able to speak probably about the production of world class and range.
Other names of directors have not been revealed – Netflix is usually used to engage many specialists in his productions (in the popular House of Cards series, Agnieszka Holland directed some episodes). We do not know the names of the actors, the most important one, who will play the role of Geralt of Rivia.
As we can assume, the preparation for the film by Platige Image ended with the decision to produce the series, which will probably replace the full-length image. However, this is not yet confirmed information.
